오늘날 사람들의 외모관리에 대한 요구와 기대가 점차 증대되어 외모와 관련된 산업이 급속하게 발전하고 있다. 외모에 대한 다방면의 사회적 관심으로, 향장미용계열 전문인 양성의 필요성도 증대하여 2009년 현재 2년제 대학 약120개, 4년제 대학 약25개, 대학원 약21개의 향장미용계열 학과가 개설되어있다. 이렇듯 향장미용학을 전공으로 하는 학생 수가 기하급수적으로 늘었음에도 불구하고, 전공자들에 대한 심리학적 접근은 미비한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 향장미용학 대학원 이상 전공자들의 자아 존중감, 신체매력지각이 전공만족도에 미치는 영향을 알아보는데 목적을 두었다. 본 연구의 자료 수집은 2010년 6월 8일부터 6월 25일까지 진행되었으며 총 132부를 최종 분석에 사용하였다. 이 연구를 위한 설문지 분석은 본 분석에 앞서 측정도구의 신뢰도를 알아보기 위하여 신뢰도 계수를 구하였다. 본 연구 결과의 통계처리에 대한 고찰을 통해 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 향장미용학 대학원 전공자의 자아 존중감과 신체매력지각 모두 전공만족도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 신체매력지각이 자아 존중감보다 더 큰 영향을 미치는 것은 향장미용학의 학문적 특성에 기인한 것이다. 향장미용학 교육 커리큘럼은 학생들의 자아 존중감이나 자신의 신체매력을 제대로 인지하고 향상시킬 수 있는 방향 설정이 필요할 것이며, 이를 통해 보다 체계적 전문인 양성이 이루어 질 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
In recent years, appearance-related industries are rapidly evolving according to people's requirements and expectations on appearances are increasing. With wide range of social interest on appearance, the necessity for cosmetolgy professional has been increased. In 2009, the number of two-year colleges is approximately 120, the number of 4-year colleges and universities is 25, 21 graduate school of cosmetology department has been established currently. Even though the number of students with cosmetology degree has been exponentially increased, psychological approach and evaluation to the degree holders are poor. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to evaluate the effect of self-esteem and physical attractiveness perception on satisfaction with Major among cosmetology graduate students. The data collection was done between June 8 - June 25, 2010 and total 132 cases were used in the final analysis. The questionnaire analysis was done prior to the main analysis to trust the reliability coefficient of the Cronbach's Alpha. The followings are the results of the statistical processing of the analysis. It shows self-esteem and physical attractiveness perception has valuable effect on satisfaction with the major. In particular, the more effect of physical attractiveness perception than self-esteem is attributed to the academic speciality of the major. It seems to be necessary to set the direction of the cosmetology education curriculum to properly perceve and improve self-esteem or physical attractiveness perception of the students. It will enables us to establish more systematic professional training program.
