본 연구는 읽기 장애 아동들과 일반 아동들의 인지 과정 능력을 조사하고 읽기와 인지 과정 능력 간의 관계를 조사하는 것이 목적이다. 읽기 장애 아동 25명과 일반 아동 29명이 본 연구에 참여하였다. 인지과정 능력을 측정하기 위해 사용된 검사 도구는 지능의 PASS 모델의 관점에서 개발된 인지사정체계의 하위 검사로서 연속적 처리 능력을 위해서는 단어 회상과 문장 반복하기 과제가, 동시적 처리능력을 위해서는 형태 기억과 동시적 언어, 그리고 주의 처리 능력을 위해서 표현적 주의와 수찾기 과제들이다. 인지사정체계의 하위 검사에서 읽기 장애 아동들과 일반 아동들 간에는 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 연속적 처리 능력 지수와 동시적 처리 능력 지수 그리고 주의처리 능력 지수에서 읽기 장애 아동들의 수행력이 일반 아동들에 비해 더 열등하였다.
Abstract
We investigated the hypothesis that children with reading disabilities will be poor in specific cognitive processes when tested with Cognitive Assessment System developed by Das and Naglieri(1997) based on the PASS(Planning, Attention, Simultaneous, Successive) theory of intelligence. 54 children with reading disabilities and normally achieving children between 8 years and 10years of age were divided into 4 groups according to their grade. All children were administered measures of attention, simultaneous and successive processes. Results confirmed the hypothesis. Children with reading disabilities performed poorly on the tasks of Expressive Attention, Number Detection, Verbal-Spatial Relations, Figure Memory, Word series, Sentence Repetition.
