Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out that what sub-cognitive process ability contribute to development of phonological awareness ability among deaf students. Phonological awareness test which is tailored to assess phonological awareness ability among deaf children was developed after reviewing previous research finding. Cognitive Assessment System designed by Das and Naglieri was administered to individual deaf student. Results were that there is significant positive relationship between overall phonological awareness ability and overall cognitive process ability and that there is significant positive relationship between phonological awareness and successive process ability among cognitive process ability in deaf students. It turned out that successive cognitive process ability is most important contributor to development of phonological awareness in deaf children.
