빈곤 아동과 일반가정 아동의 학교생활적응 영향요인 비교분석연구

본 연구는 빈곤이 초등학생의 학업성취도 및 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 하였으며 이를 위해 경남지역의 빈곤아동과 일반아동 218명을 대상으로 비교연구를 실시하였다. 연구결과 가족유형, 부모학력, 경제수준, 수학성적, 가족·친구·지역사회 지지 인식 정도에 있어 두 집단 간 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났으며 빈곤아동의 학교생활적응도가 일반아동에 비해 낮은 것으로 분석되었다. 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 가족형태, 부모학력, 경제수준, 가족·친구·지역사회 지지 및 학교생활만족도로 분석되었으며, 학교생활적응의 영향요인으로는 가족유형, 아버지 직업, 수학성적, 학교만족도, 가족·교사·친구 지지로 조사되었다. 본 연구결과에 근거하여 빈곤 아동들의 학업성취도 및 학교생활적응을 향상시킬 수 있는 실천 지침들을 제시하였으며, 후속연구에 대해서도 제언하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of poverty on elementary school children’s academic achievement and school adjustment. For this purpose, this study compared 218 poor and non-poor children residing in the Gyeongsangnam-do province. According to the results, the two groups showed significant difference in family type, parents’ academic qualification, economic level, father’s occupation, the record of mathematics achievement and perceived family, peer and community supports. Poor children’s school adjustment was lower than that of non-poor children. Factors found to affect academic achievement were family type, parents’ academic qualification, economic level, perceived family, peer and community supports, and satisfaction with school life. In addition, factors found to affect school adjustment were family type, father’s occupation, the record of mathematics achievement, satisfaction with school life, and family, peer and community supports. Based on the results of this study, this study proposed practical guidelines for enhancing poor children’s academic achievement and school adjustment, and made suggestions for future research.
