Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the empirical causal relationship between offender stigma and social support, and to examine the mediating effect of resilience on the two variables. Although previous studies have used stigma as various factors, this study is based on the opinion of Phillips(2016), The sub-scales of stigma were classified as public stigma, personal stigma, and self-stigma. He asserted that the stigma had a significant impact on the stigma, These results are consistent with the results of this study. As a result of statistical analysis, Frist, in Model 1 demographic variables were used as control variables and the final education, housing and income has a positive(+) effect on the family’s social support, In the social support of work colleagues, gender showed negative(-) effect and final academic ability had a positive(+) influence. Second, Model 2 increased the explanatory power of Model 1 by adding self-stigma, personal stigma, and popular stigma, which are risk factors, As a result, self-stigma has negative(-) effect on social support as compared to personal stigma and popular stigma, This self-stigma showed negative(-) effcts on both family and work colleagues, which are sub-factors of social support. Third, In the Model 3 the control factor positive and social factors, which are protective factors are added to the Model 2 as a result, the control factor, which is a sub-factor of resilience has a positive dffect on the social support of the work colleague. In summary, given that social support for displaced persons has an impact on the suppression of recidivism, Efforts to strengthen the base of social support for displaced workers are very meaningful tasks. In particular, the development of programs for strengthening the social support of family or work colleagues, which are the major influencers most influencing the behavior of the ex-prisoners is required.
