老子聲稱「道」不可標榜，卻又寫五千字的《道徳經》來闡述「道」，豈不是自相矛盾？書中更充斥著像「柔弱勝剛強」之類令人費解的話語，如何詮釋才能解釋這種看似不合邏輯卻自有其道理的說理方式？本文即擬對此提供管見。所採用的方法是語境分析。―w―w從辨明老子所面對的難題，以及他所擬定的化解策略，藉以研判其書上下文實際上要表達的意思，從而體認老子使用詭辭的正當性。
Abstract
It seems self-contradiction that Laozi wrote Tao Te Ching to demonstrate what was Tao in over 5,000 Chinese characters while he declared what we could assert were not Tao at all. We are also puzzled by his proclamation such as "The weak one always subjugates the strong one".How to explain this kind of expression that looks as if illogical but hasits own tongue of reasons? This paper tries to reply this question. The method adoptedis analysis of linguistic context which begin with distinguishing what was the problem Laozi confronted and what was the tactics to solve that problem he drafted, and then judge the meaning within the context of his book should be expressed in fact, thus realize the legitimacy of his paradoxical expression.
