Abstract
This study investigates Han Kang’s novel My Woman’s Fruit (내 여자의 열매) and its Chinese translation The Plant Wife (translated by Choi Youhak, 2023), based on an expanded Korean–Chinese parallel corpus. Using both quantitative and qualitative analytical methods, the research systematically examines the translation strategies and cognitive mechanisms of Korean temporal connective endings in Chinese. Focusing on seven types of temporal connectives defined by the National Institute of the Korean Language (2005:116), this study integrates the Usage-based Model and Frame Semantics to construct a cognitive translation model centered on “temporal relation conversion.” Through standardized frequency analysis and the calculation of “syntactic translation entropy,” the study reveals the structural variability and semantic stability among different connective endings in translation. The results show that Korean expresses temporal parallelism and subordination through morphological markers, while Chinese achieves logical coherence via word order, syntactic patterning, and discourse restructuring. During this process, translators reconstruct meaning cognitively through adjustments in word order, syntactic transformation, and information reorganization.
