Abstract
Rural areas in South Korea face declining quality of life and increasing social burdens due to the rapid aging of the population and the prevalence of deteriorating housing. This study investigates the health conditions of 30 elderly residents in Yeonpyeong Island and explores 참고문헌 the implications for aged housing improvements, focusing on the connection between health and environmental factors. The findings revealed a total of 27 health conditions, with an average of 3.5 conditions per person. The most common issues were degenerative arthritis (60%), hypertension (50%), herniated disks (33%), dyslipidemia (30%), and mobility impairments (20%), primarily linked to physical movement. Differences in the types of conditions across age groups were observed, highlighting the need for tailored approaches to address the specific health needs of the elderly. This study emphasizes the interaction between health conditions and housing environments, proposing preventative housing improvements centered on fall prevention and safety measures. Additionally, it suggests cost-effective strategies for enhancing housing in medically underserved areas to improve community-wide health outcomes. By fostering interdisciplinary perspectives, this research provides foundational insights for housing policies to address the challenges of a super-aged society.
