노동시장 이중구조와 성차별－직종분리를 중심으로－

초록

1990년대 여성노동시장을 성별 직종분리의 측면에서 분석한 결과, 여성의 경제활동증가에도 불구하고 성별 직종분리는 더욱 심화되거나 안정적인 변화를 보이고 있다. 또한 여성직종의 임시·일용직 비중이 남성직종에 비해 크게 높은 것으로 나타났고, 여성직종 집중화에 따라 여성의 임시·일용직화가 발생하였다. Sorenson(1990)의 방법에 따라 과밀가설을 검정한 결과 과밀가설의 기각으로 나타났다. 과밀효과가 성별 임금격차에 미치는 효과는 매우 적은 반면 남성과 여성은 각각 남성직종과 여성직종에 취업할 때 임금 상승효과가 발생하는 것으로 추정되었다. 노동시장이 여성직종과 남성직종의 둘로 구성된 이중구조를 가지고 있다는 가설을 우도비 검정한 결과도 이중구조의 존재를 기각하였다. 이러한 검정결과는 성별 직종분리가 성차별에 기인한다는 가정이 부적절함을 시사한다.

Abstract

In 1990s, occupational segregation hadnt improved even thought the labor market activity of women increased. The testing result of crowding hypothesis using Sorensons method rejects the null hypothesis. Thus, it is assumed that female workers could increase their wages in female dominated occupations rather in male dominated occupations. In addition, we tested a hypothesis that the labor market consists of female dominated occupations and male dominated occupations. The result rejects the null hypothesis. So, we failed to confirm that the occupational segregation is the result of sexual discrimination.
