Abstract
In this paper, we investigate R&D effect on productivity of manufacturing firm level using Survey of Business Activities at 2010 from Statistics Korea, and we estimate nonlinear models for empirical analysis. We find that a firm with high R&D intensity has a economies of scale effect beyond the threshold level of R&D intensity. In addition, as a SURE(3SLS) model, the empirical results indicate a nonlinear effect of R&D intensity significantly for each type of industry group. Our findings imply that not only a firm but also the government should pursue a detailed economic analysis corresponding R&D investment policy.
