Abstract
This paper is to the estimate effects of military service on young and adults’ wage in South Korea. The Random effect model was used to analyze using panel data of YP2007. The military service increases wage by 7.1%. Less educated veterans or earlier people enter military, the higher wage effect people have. Additionally, a wage effect decreases as time goes by. Finally, when a wage gap is decomposed, a difference part which means differences of individual and job characteristics accounts for 70% of total wage gap, and a differentiation part which can not be explained by them holds 30%.
