문화 간 화자를 위한 공동체 역량 기반 초등 영어과 교육과정의 내용 및 교수-학습 방법의 방향
On Contents and Teaching-Learning Methods of Primary National English Curriculum Based on Community Capacity for Intercultural Speakers

본 연구에서는 공동체 역량과 관련하여 교육과정을 성취기준, 내용, 교수·학습 방법 및 평가 등으로 세분하여 분석하였다. 또한, 공동체 역량을 함양하기 위한 교육과정 내용체계 및 교수·학습 방법을 제시하고, 그에 적합한 과제 및 활동 구성의 방향을 제안하였다. 공동체 역량에 초점을 두어 교육과정의 내용체계를 분석한 결과, 먼저 문화적 배경이 다른 사람들의 가치, 규준, 믿음, 사회적 관습 등을 이해하고 공감할 수 있는 언어기능 및 의사소통 활동이 권장되지 못하고 있었다. 둘째, 언어재료에 공동체 역량을 반영하기 위한 ‘세계 시민 의식’의 함양과 관련된 내용이 명시적으로 포함되어 있지 않았다. 셋째, 초등학교 3·4학년군, 5·6학년군의 4기능 성취기준에서는 공동체 역량이 비명시적으로 연관되어 있었다. 교수·학습 방법 및 평가방법에 대해 분석한 결과, 4기능(듣기·말하기·읽기·쓰기)을 통합하여 제시한 교수·학습 방향에 대해서는 두 개의 항목이 있었으나, 평가의 방향에 대해서는 제시하지 않았다. 공동체 역량과 관련한 4기능별 교수·학습 방법을 분석한 결과, 교수·학습 방법이나 활동이 4기능별로 구체적으로 제시되어 있지 않았다. 따라서, 3·4학년군에서는 다양한 문화를 쉽게 접하는 사물의 이름, 호칭, 인사말 등과 관련한 언어적 의사소통이나 문화적 배경이 다른 사람들의 비언어적 의사소통을 통해 그들의 문화를 이해하고 공감할 수 있는 공동체 역량들이 함양될 수 있도록 교수·학습 방법을 제시하였다. 또한, 5·6학년군에서는 다문화와 관련된 도표나 그래픽 오가나이저 등의 시각자료, 그리고 다문화 관련한 물건들을 통해 문화 간 차이를 인식하고 이해할 수 있도록 협동학습, 프로젝트 학습 등을 계획하고 토론할 수 있는 교수·학습 활동이 설계될 필요가 있음을 제안하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to suggest the direction of designing contents and teaching-learning methods of primary national English curriculum based on community capacity for intercultural speakers, because community capacity is being emphasized in the character of the 2015 Revised National Curriculum. In order to achieve the purpose, contents(linguistic forms, communicative functions, topics, vocabulary), achievement standards, teaching-learning methods, and assessment were analysed in terms of the community capacity according to the grade clusters. The results indicated that linguistic forms, communicative functions, contents, and assessment were not designed systematically considering the building of the community capacity. Above all, achievement standards and teaching-learning methods were not presented appropriately in the aspect of implementing the community capacity in English classes. Thus, in this paper, it is suggested that the ways of systemizing contents, achievement standards, and teaching-learning methods established in the 2015 curriculum need to be considered for building learners’community capacity.
