이 논문에서는 화법에서 관계가 어떤 의의를 지니는지를 화법의 성격과 우리 말 문화 전통의 계승, 그리고 이와 관련하여 사회적 요구의 측면에서 살펴보아, 화법에서 관계가 아주 중요하다는 것을 밝힐 것이다. 그리고 이런 관계가 어떤 층위를 이루며, 각각은 어떤 성격을 지니는지 정리하여 관계 연구의 실마리를 제공하고자 하였다. 관계는 화법에서 네 가지 측면에서 의의를 지닌다. 첫째, 화법의 성격 측면에서 볼 때 화법은 본질적으로 내용과 관계 층위로 구성되어, 관계는 내용이 어떻게 해석되며 어떻게 제시되어야 하는지를 규정한다. 따라서 내용과 관계가 온전히 결합되어야 온전한 화법 소통을 할 수 있다. 아울러 관계는 수사학이 연설에서 대인의사소통으로 그 중심을 변화한 시대적 요구에 부응한 것이며, 관계는 대인 관계뿐만 아니라 집단에서도 영향력을 행사하는 것을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 한국 전통의 계승 측면에서 볼 때, 관계는 우리 말 문화의 기본을 이루고 있으며, 유학 사상과 우리 불교에서도 화법을 관계의 측면에서 접근하였음을 알 수 있다. 셋째, 사회적 요구의 측면에서 볼 때 관계는 우리 사회에서 문제가 되고 있는 ‘간 대화’를 효과적으로 수행할 수 있게 하고, 토론 문화와 협상 문화를 바람직하게 발전시킬 수 있게 하며, 지역 연구주의의 문제를 해결할 수 있는 방법이 될 수 있다. 아울러 최근 부상한 사이버 대중의 소통을 효과적으로 할 수 있도록 한다. 관계는 내적 관계와 외적 관계라는 두 층위를 가진다. 외적 관계란 공식적이고 객관적인 관계이고, 내적 관계란 주관적인 관계로서 참여자들에 의해 암묵적으로 합의된 관계이다. 외적 관계는 다시, 친밀 관계, 가족 관계, 집단 관계, 대중 관계로 나뉠 수 있다. 내적 관계와 외적 관계는 길항 관계로 발현된다.
Abstract
Inthispaper,therearetwosub-subjectsabouttherelationshipamong participantsandoralcommunication.Thefirstoneiswhyweneedto focusontherelationshipinresearchandeducation.Thesecondoneis whatischaracteristicoftherelationship. Therearethreelevelsofsenseswhenwefocusontherelationshipin theKoreanoralcommunication. First,focusingontherelationshipispropertonatureofcommunication. Oralcommunicationisbasicallycomposedwithtwolevels,contentsand relationship.Thelatterguidestheinterpretationoftheformer.Anditalso guideshow thecontentsshouldbeshowed.So,ifcontentsshouldbe harmonywiththerelationshipthenoralcommunicationworkseffectively. Focusingontherelationshipisarespondtohistoricalchangeofrhetoric. Rhetorichasmoved thefocusfrom publicaddressintointerpersonal communicationsince1970. Second,focusing on therelationship isasuccessofKorean oral communication tradition.Korean traditionalculture,especially Korean ConfucianismandBuddhism,havetreatedoralcommunicationasatoolof thegrowingpersonality.Itmeansthatthosedidn’tfocusoncontentbut humanrelationshipoftheoralcommunication. Third,focusingontherelationshipcansolvemanyconflictsinKorean society.Somanyconflictsin Korean,forexampleregionalconflicts,generationconflictsandconflictsbetweentoprankofficersandcitizens etc.,canbesolvedbygoodcommunicationoneffectiverelationship. Thecharacteristicofrelationshiphastwolevels： innerrelationshipand outerrelationship.Thelatterisobjectiveoriented.Buttheformeris subjective oriented and ismade by theirtacitagreementby the participants. Outerrelationship iscomposed with intimacy relationship,family relationship,grouprelationship,andmassesrelationship.
