『삼봉집』 시문학의 ‘은일사상’에 함의된 양가성 연구: 내적 성찰과 실천적 의지의 관점에서

Abstract

This study examines the ambivalent characteristics and complementary relationship between the seclusion philosophy (Eunil Sasang) and the philosophy of loving the people (Aemin Sasang) as depicted in Sambong Jeong Do-jeon’s Sambongjip. The philosophy of seclusion provided Jeong with an inner foundation for self-reflection and moral justification while distancing himself from worldly power. At the same time, his philosophy of loving the people, rooted in profound affection and a sense of responsibility toward the populace, aimed at realizing a governance philosophy centered on Minbonjuui(民本主義), or people-based governance. Jeong Do-jeon’s poetry embodies these philosophical tendencies through literary expression, transcending simple admiration of nature to integrate moral introspection with practical political action. Notably, he developed his seclusion philosophy not as mere withdrawal but as a multifaceted attitude that preserved moral selfhood while fulfilling social responsibilities. This philosophy, when combined with his love for the people, supported his philosophical aspiration for an ideal society and played a central role in his historical mission of establishing the Joseon Dynasty. This paper provides an integrated analysis of Jeong Do-jeon’s thought and political vision through his literary works. It offers significant insights and implications for addressing contemporary ethical and political challenges. Jeong’s ideas exemplify how moral introspection and people-centered practical politics can effectively intertwine, serving as a valuable model for modern governance.
