宋浚吉 후손가의 언간첩 『先世諺牘』에 대한 고찰

Abstract

Seonse Eonjeok, the letter collection of the family of Song Jun-gil, consists of forty letters exchanged by eighteen people among the clan members. Thirty-nine out of forty letters were included in the initial compilation while the one letter in the back were attached to the original later. As for the compiler, Ms. Min from Yeo-heung clan, who was the wife of Song Ik-heum, seems to have compiled the letters between 1764 and 1770. It is rather the unusual case to find a female compiler. The intricate female deftness can be seen through the way she editted the letters. She cut out the texts line by line and pasted them, and added numbers of the letters in order on each page. Song Mun-hee transcribed the letter which was added later, identifying it as the letter of Ms. Kim from Andong clan who was the wife of Song Yo-hwa. It is speculated that Song Jong-oh inserted the letter in the back cover of the collection, while arranging other separate letters. The total forty letters in the compilation turn out to have been written and exchanged during the seventeenth to the eighteenth century among various family relationships such as ;parents-in- law and a daughter-in-law; parents and their children; parents-in- law and a son-in-law, siblings; and nephews(or niece) and aunts. Seonse Eonjeok also provides a lot of interesting contents from the rigors of daily lifes to family occasions such as funerals or ancestral rites. Particularly, one can see the literary culture of women from the story complaining to Ho Yeon-jae of sending a letter to his son in classical Chinese. The letter compilation would contribute the literary source to the study of the life history and the adjacent disciplines in the lime light recently. It can also serve as a significant primary source for the language history between the seventeenth to eighteenth century.
