능력주의와 엘리트 세습의 극적 구현 연구 - 텔레비전드라마 <SKY캐슬>을 중심으로

Abstract

SKY Castle is a drama produced around the keywords ‘top 0.1%, entrance examination, success’. This drama has established a drama format that mixes death case tracking and growth narrative genres. This study focused on the vested interests revealed in SKY Castle and the logic of choice to maintain their benefits. In order to maintain the class between generations, cultural capital, social-related capital, and symbolic capital are required in addition to economic capital. In SKY Castle, the vested interest approached private education as a result of priority, group cartel, and class maintenance and used it as an instrument. and they cannot be guaranteed safety when no equivalent exchange has been made within the group. The characters must prove their ability to be equal to the class. At this time, if class and ability are not connected, their benefits cannot be guaranteed. The goal of this drama was to satirize the desires of vested rights. However, the conclusion that the central figure of the conflict remains in the private education market allows different interpretations. SKY Castle realistically expressed the reality that elite hereditary succession and power imbalance continue. At the same time, in a competency-oriented society, vested interests warn that they cannot continue their benefits unless they strategically utilize private education. The creators satirically expressed the point of connection between class and ability-oriented society, but they also revealed that private education is based on class anxiety. SKY Castle exposed elite hereditary succession and collective cartels, and consequently contributed to strengthening the ability-oriented neoliberal values.
