한국어 교사의 문화지능 조사 연구

초록

본 연구는 한국어 교사를 대상으로 새로운 문화 배경에 효과적으로 적응하는 개인의 능력을 나타내는 척도인 ‘문화지능’ 수준을 측정한 연구다. 대학 언어교육기관의 현직 한국어 교사 및 양성과정의 예비교사를 대상으로 문화지능을 측정하고 문화지능에 영향을 미치는 변인을 파악하는 것이 연구의 목적이다. 이를 위해 221명의 한국어 교사 및 예비교사의 문화지능 수준을 측정하였고 문화간 감수성을 나타내는 문화지능이 교사의 경력, 해외 체류기간, 다문화 연수경험, 외국어 능력에 따라 유의미한 차이가 있는지 검증하였다. SPSS t-검정과 ANOVA를 사용하여 분석한 결과 교사의 경력, 해외 체류기간, 다문화 연수경험, 외국어 능력은 한국어 교사의 문화지능에 유의미한 영향을 미침이 밝혀졌다. 문화지능의 하위영역인 초인지적 영역, 인지적 영역, 동기부여적 영역, 행동적 영역 중에서는 특히 인지적 영역에서 유의한 수준차가 발견되었다.

Abstract

This study is purposed to examine the relation between individual characteristics(the experience of language instructor, the period of sojourn in foreign country, intercultural training experience and language ability) of Korean language instructors and cultural intelligence(CQ). This study focuses on cultural intelligence of Korean language instructors that explain why is it that some people adjust relatively easily, quickly, and thoroughly to new cultures while others cannot seem able to do so. For this study, 221 Korean instructors and trainee instructors responded to a set of CQ questionnaires. Then the data was analysed using t-test and ANOVA. Firstly, this study points out that the experience of language instructor is positively related to CQ level, especially in facets of metacognitive and cognitive CQ. Secondly, the period of sojourn in foreign country is positively related to CQ. Those who had stayed abroad over 3 years show higher CQ level than all other groups. Thirdly, intercultural training experiences are positively related to CQ. Finally, language ability is positively related to all four facets of CQ. This study has implications for planning intercultural training programs for Korean language instructors or Korean language trainee instructors to improve their intercultural sensitivity or cultural intelligence. This study also could give suggestions for developing Korean Cultural Intelligence Scale.
