초록

본 연구는 지식기반 경제에서 지역경제발전을 위해 더욱 중요시되는 혁신과정에서의 경쟁과 협력의 의미를 살펴보았다. 경쟁이 기업의 경쟁우위를 유지하는 데 중요하지만 지역의 혁신역량이 촉진되기 위해서는 기업을 포함한 혁신주체간의 협력이 필요하였다. 경쟁적 환경에서 학습과 혁신이 지속적으로 개발되기 위해서 협력관계에는 신뢰와 안정성이 수반되어야 하며, 야기되는 상호적 학습과정에서 공간적 인접성이 긍정적 효과를 줄 수 있음을 파악하였다. 혁신에 중요한 암묵적 지식이 효과적으로 교환되는 네트워크가 지역 내에 구축되어야 하는 근거도 논의하였다. 끝으로 낙후된 지역에서 혁신을 위한 협력관계의 네트워크가 가능한 지를 조사하고, 그에 따라 이 지역에서 성공적인 지역혁신체계가 수립되기 위한 정책적 의미를 제시하였다.

Abstract

This paper examines the implication of competition and collaboration in the innovationprocess for regional economic development in an increasinglyknowledge-based economy. Whilecompetition is an important force in securing the competitive advantage of firms, collaborationbetween firms and organizations should be necessary for promoting the innovative capacity of aregion. This study shows that collaboration relations based on trust and stability is important for thelong-term development of learning and innovation in competitive environment, and the way howspatial proximity plays an important role in interactive learning processes. It also discusses thereason why the innovative networks facilitating the exchange of tacit knowledge should beembedded in region. Finally, the paper examines the possibility of the networks based on
