조선후기 자수문양에 나타난 해학성 연구 -복식 및 생활용품을 중심으로-
A Study of Humor in Embroidered Patterns from the Late Joseon Dynasty - Focusing on Clothing and Household Items -

This paper has aimed to investigate the true sense of humor in embroidered patterns that have long been used as a part of costume decoration techniques against the clothing and household items from the late Joseon Dynasty. A humor in the embroidered patterns during the late Joseon Dynasty can be classified as follows: First, a humor of children's heart in which we can feel children's sensibility; second, a humor of imagination which expresses creativeness as well as familiarity; third, a humor of simplicity which expresses modernism by simplifying shapes & colors; lastly, a humor of literal space free from time and space constraints. Based on the said analysis, this study has proposed a new perspective on the beauty of costume. However, further studies need to be conducted on traditional beauty of embroidered patterns through more specified classifications.
