본 연구는 1990년대 이후의 구조적 변화 속에서 한국 농민들의 대응 형태 및 생활상의 변화를 규명하고자 기획되었다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 진도지역의 농민운동 활동가들을 대상으로 질문지를 이용한 조사를 실시하였다. 조사결과 드러난 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 농민운동의 약화와 희망의 부재이다. 이들은 그동안 적극적인 농민운동을 통해 그러한 구조적 변화에 대응했지만, 삶의 조건은 악화되었다. 그 결과 농민운동 자체가 약화되었으며, 별다른 대안도없는 실정이다. 둘째, 경제상황의 전반적인 악화와 출구의 부재이다. 진도지역 농민운동 활동가들의 사회경제적 상황변화는 표면적으로는 어느 정도 양극화 경향을 띠고 있지만, 실제로는 전반적인 궁핍화로 보는 것이 타당하다. 셋째,농민들 사이에서 가치관의 혼돈과 자존감의 약화가 나타나고 있다. 문화적인 측면이나 산업적인 측면에서는 높게 평가할 수 있는 농사가 현실에서는 배제되고 무시되기 때문이다. 특히 수지타산의 악화는 농민들에게 결정적인 악영향을 미치고 있었다.
Abstract
This study is planned to discover the behavior of Korean peasants cope with the changes ofstructure last 30 years. So, I have surveyed the activists of Jindo Peasants Association through questionnaire. The outcome of survey are as follows; First, Peasants movement have been become weakened andthe hope of future have disappeared. Although they have resisted the pressure of structural changeszealously, their life conditions have worsened. So, Peasants movement have been become weakened andthey have no alternative choice. Second, The economic situations of all activist those who surveyed haveworsened and there is no exits. If looking only at the surface of things, the socio-economic situations ofJindo peasants activists show a tendency to polarization. But, to tell the truth, overall immiseration haveoccurred at Jindo area. Third, confusion of their sense of values and weakening of self-esteem have occurredamong the Jindo peasants activists. It is because that farming which is evaluated high in respect tocultural and industrial perspective, have been eliminated and disregarded. Especially, worsening of earningsand expenses make the peasants to be in the worse situations.
