Abstract
This research investigated the predicting power of team characteristics such as fairness, cohesiveness and trust among team members on knowledge sharing and team performance. It also explored the mediating effect of knowledge sharing between team characteristics and performance. The following specific research questions have been addressed to achieve the purpose. 1. Does the level of knowledge sharing within a team perform as a mediator when the fairness of distributing compensation expects the team performance? 2. Does the level of knowledge sharing within a team perform as a mediator when the knowledge friendly team culture expects the team performance? 3. Does the level of knowledge sharing within a team perform as a mediator when the trust among team members expects the team performance? The summary of the results in this research is following. First, the fairness of distributing compensation predicted the level of knowledge sharing as well as the team performance significantly, and the level of knowledge sharing had a partial mediation effect. Second, the knowledge friendly team culture predicted the level of knowledge sharing and the team performance significantly, and the level of knowledge sharing had a partial mediation effect. Lastly, the trust among team members predicted the level of knowledge sharing and the performance significantly. Also, the level of knowledge sharing played a partial mediation role.
