초록

Research on children's clothing during the Joseon Dynasty has been limited due to the limited number of excavated artifacts. The children's clothing excavated will be critical primary data for studying children's clothing in the Joseon Dynasty. This study used primary data by analyzing the fabric and shape of 1 Jingnyeong, which is the form of Aekjureum, 1 Jangui(長衣), and 2 Jungchimak, which are children's attire excavated in Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do in 2017. Based on this, the results of examining the characteristics of children's clothing by comparative analysis with relics from other tombs of the same type are as follows. First, the Jingnyeong, the form of Aekjureum, is a quilted garment made of cotton. Unlike the existing Aekjureum pleats, this artifact has two large trapezoidal side parts under the small trapezoidal side parts under the armpit, and there are no rectangular side parts, so it is fixed without pleats. Therefore, it was possible to confirm the change in the shape of Aekjureum without pleats. Second, Jangui is a single garment made of burlap, which is very small compared to other cotton and quilted coats and can be worn by 1-2 years old. It is characterized by running stitches and french seam, not the stitching and flat-felled seam commonly used for unlined clothes. Third, the two Jungchimak are all cotton clothes made of cotton. Compared with other children's Jungchimak, it was confirmed that the shape was similar to the relics of the Papyeong Yun clan and the Pyongyang Jo clan from the first half of the 17th century. Fourth, as a result of a comparative analysis of children's clothes from the tombs excavated from Jangseong with those of adults, it was found that the shape of the clothes was similar, and the overall size was small. Based on the research results of these excavated relics, it is expected that a follow-up study on many children's costumes will be conducted in the future.
