This research suggests the present conditions and features in the Joseon Dynasty. Having preservation treatment, it suggests the baseline data, making reproduction of disfigured Dopo and Jang-ui. On the basis of this process, the features of child’s costumes would be researched. The results of the study are as follows. At first, Dopo, before restoration, was demaged in Git, Dong-Jung, sleeves, Go-rum, and An-Sup, but it wasn’t heavy. Jang-ui was heavily destroyed outshell and lining. They were envisioned as restoring, after washing. Second, the process of the artifact is washing→drying→spreading&shaping→restoring. In the part of restoring has sewing back on the fabric having similar density to the artifact. Third, Dopo is a padded clothes, besides, this fabric is cotton[綿] and blended tabby(交織). The condition was fine, moreover it was restored using similar fabric to the coat. The features are using blended Tabby textile in part and fixing Mu(which is a fabric part of under the arm) to back with a band. It was similar to Byeollae-myeon’s artifact as well as has no big difference. Jang-ui is a padded clothes, and fabric is cotton ․ silk ․ blended tabby. Although it had been disfigured, it was restored by similar textile to original. The feature is using blended Tabbye textile in part. The last, the child’s costumes of the 16th century are same with the basic formation of adult’s only except for the size. An-git is knife-shape, and Mu is fixed strings. The feature of Jang-ui is Gut-sup is single-sup.
Abstract
This study is focused on the restoration(復原) of Dopo(道袍) as well as Jang-ui(長衣), which are children’s costumes in the Joseon Dynasty excavated artifacts from Yesan Chung-nam in 2001. So far, most of former studies of children’s costumes have been written after modern times(近代) because of lacking pre-data. Therefore, it would be important for the subject, 16 century.
