본 연구는 학교 밖에서 자기 길을 모색하고 있는 청소년들이 활동하는 한 청소년센터의 대안적 학습 문화의 양상을 고찰한 것이다. 연구 대상지인 가람 청소년센터는 개인의 선택에 자유를 부여하고, 인격적으로 평등한 관계를 지향하고, 가람센터라는 공동체를 유지할 수 있는 범위 내에서 개인을 최대한 존중한다. 이런 문화적 맥락을 바탕으로 “죽돌”이라 불리는 청소년들은 개인적 차원의 프로젝트 학습과 “가람문화 만들기”라는 공동체 차원의 학습을 한다. 이 두 차원의 학습은 모두 죽돌의 적극적인 참여와 활동에 대한 성찰, 그리고 체험의 과정을 통해 이루어진다. 종합해 보면, 가람센터의 대안적 학습 문화는 공동체라는 틀을 잃지 않으면서 그 속에서 진정 자유로운 온전한 개인이 되기 위해 서로 가르치고 배우는 체험학습의 과정이라고 할 수 있다.
Abstract
This study aims to understand the culture of alternative learning in youth center in which youths try to find their careers out of school. "Garam Youth center" gives the freedom of choice to individual, orients an equal relationship of person each other, and respects individual from inside the scope it will be able to maintain the community. The youths study through projects of personal dimension and "forming the culture of Garam" of community dimension. The youths learn in the process of active participation, reflection of their actions, and experiences. When it summarized, the culture of alternative learning in Garam youth center is the process of experiential learning in which youths teach and learn for becoming an free individual together from the frame inside which is a community.
