Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of consumer global orientation and fashion innovativeness on consumers’ evaluations, attitudes, and purchase intentions toward global fashion brands. A survey was conducted among individuals in their 20s, and 262 valid responses were collected and analyzed. The findings are summarized as follows. First, consumer global orientation was categorized into three factors: open-mindedness, empathy for diversity, and cross-border consumption. Second, consumers’ evaluations of global fashion brands were divided into design/style, practicality, and symbolism factors. Third, open-mindedness, diversity, empathy, and cross-border consumption were found to influence fashion innovativeness. In turn, fashion innovativeness, diversity, empathy, and design/style factors significantly affected attitudes toward global fashion brands. Attitudes toward global fashion brands increased purchase intention, and practicality factors also directly influenced it. Fourth, group differences in fashion innovativeness revealed that, in the high-innovativeness group, diversity empathy positively influenced attitudes toward global fashion brands. At the same time, design/style and practicality factors affected both attitudes and purchase intentions. In the low-innovativeness group, only the diversity empathy factor showed a significant influence. Overall, the results indicate that consumer global orientation and fashion innovativeness function as meaningful antecedent variables shaping consumers’ evaluations, attitudes, and purchase intentions regarding global fashion brands. These findings highlight the applicability of these variables in developing effective global fashion marketing strategies.
