아동의 세계 시민의식 형성에 미치는 국제교류 프로그램의 효과 연구

본 연구는 아동단체협의회에서 실시하고 있는 세계시민교육 프로그램인 ‘아동총회’를 중심으로 하여 국제교류 활동 프로그램이 지니는 효과성을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한 연구로 연구의 대상은 2009년 6월부터 2009년 12월까지 제 6회 대한민국아동총회에 참가한 410 명중 UN 방문단으로 선정된 15명의 아동을 대상으로 하였다. UN 방문단으로 선정된 15명은 2010년 1월 25일부터 31일간 미국 뉴욕의 UN 본부, UNICEF, 워싱턴의 백악관과, 클락스버그 초등학교를 방문하여 전 세계 아동의 인권과 지구온난화, 세계평화등과 같은 문제에 대하여 토론시간등의 국제교류 프로그램에 참가하였다. 본 연구는 이들을 대상으로 5점 척도로 제시된‘세계시민의식조사지’사전과 사후에 배포하여 조사한 결과를 대응분석 t-검증으로 분석하였다. 분석결과 아동의 국제교류가 세계시민의식에 미치는 효과는 세계시민의식을 측정한 5개의 영역( (1.인간의 보편적 가치, 2. 다양성에 대한 가치존중, 3. 세계문제에 대한 흥미와 관심, 4. 문제해결에 대한 참여의지 5, 세계지향성)중 ‘세계문제에 대한 흥미와 관심’의 영역을 제외한 4개의 영역에서는 전혀 나타나고 있지 않았다. 연구자는 이와 같은 결과를 토대로 국내에서 실시한 아동총회에서의 인권 교육이 가지는 효과의 가능성과 프로그램 자체가 가지는 한계성에 대하여 논하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of international exchange program which has been plan to develop the global citizenship of children. Data were collected from 15 children who have been participate the ‘UN Visiting Program'. The questionnaire which had been designed to measure the global citizenship in five domains(universal value of human, respect of diversity, interests in global issues, intention to solving international dispute, and orientation to globalism) were distributed twice to the sample before they had experience of ‘UN Visiting Program' program and after they came back to Korea. The collected data were analyzed with paired samples T test. The results shows that international exchange program does not have any effects on four domains of global citizenship except on the domain of interests in global issues. In the domain of interests in global issues, the international exchange program has significant effects on male and no-experience group of international exchange program beside of 'UN Visiting Program'. Based on this result, researcher concludes that rather than the short-term international exchange programs, well organized long-term domestic programs could be more efficient to develop global citizenship for children.
