학업중단 의도를 가진 청소년의 학교생활부적응 영향요인

Factors Associated with School Maladjustment among Adolescents with School Dropout Intention

본 연구는 학업중단 의도를 가진 청소년의 학교생활부적응에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위해 생태체계적 관점을 적용하여 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 아동․청소년인권실태조사 2019년 데이터를 사용하였으며, 학업중단 의도를 가진 중․고등학생 2,192명을 최종 분석 대상으로 활용하였다. 다중회귀분석 결과, 개인 요인으로 학업성적이 낮을수록, 자아존중감이 낮을수록 학교생활부적응을 더 많이 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 가족 요인으로는 부모의 자녀에 대한 존중수준이 낮을수록 학교생활부적응 수준이 더 높아지는 것으로 조사되었다. 학교 요인에서는 교사폭력을 많이 경험할수록, 학교폭력피해 수준이 높을수록, 학교에서 존중받지 못할수록 학교생활에 적응하기 더욱 어려운 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 추가적으로 중학교 및 고등학교 집단에 따른 차이를 살펴본 결과, 자아존중감, 자녀미존중수준, 교사폭력, 학교폭력, 학생미존중수준은 공통적으로 영향을 미치는 요인이었으며 반면 고등학생의 경우 성별(여학생)과 학업성적이 학교생활부적응에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 학업중단 의도를 가진 청소년의 학교생활부적응을 감소키기 위해 학업성적 관리, 자아존중감 증진, 가정에서의 자녀존중, 교사폭력 및 학교폭력 감소, 학교에서의 학생존중 증진, 학교급에 따른 차별적 접근을 위한 사회복지 방안을 제시하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the factors associated with school maladjustment among adolescents with school dropout intention based on the ecological perspective. This study used data from 2,192 adolescents with school dropout intention who had participated in the 2019 Korean Children and Youth Human Rights Survey. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that at the individual level, adolescents with lower academic achievements and with lower self-esteem had more difficulty in their school adjustment. At the family level, youth with less experiences of respect from parents had a hard time in school adjustment. At the school level, teachers violence victimization, school violence victimization, and experiences of respect in schools had influences on school maladjustment. In addition, the results of examining the differences between middle and high school groups found that self-esteem, experiences of respect from parents, teachers violence victimization, school violence victimization, and experiences of respect in schools were the common factors related to school maladjustment both middle school and high school students. However, compared to middle school groups, students with low academic achievements and the girls were associated with school maladjustment for high school. Based on the results, to mitigate school maladjustment among adolescents with school dropout intention, specific guidelines of social welfare are suggested for services and programs related to enhancing academic achievements and self-esteem, respect youth in the home and schools, reducing teachers violence victimization and school violence victimization, and the gender-based approach.
