<영변가>와 <진달래꽃>의 상호텍스트적 양상과 의미

이 글의 목적은 김소월의 <진달래꽃>이 <영변가>를 비롯한 여러 민요와 상호텍스트적 관계에 있음을 밝히고, 상호텍스트성을 통해 볼 때 <진달래꽃>과 민요 <영변가>의 의미가 각각 어떻게 달라지는지를 살피는 데 있다. 2장에서는 김소월이 <진달래꽃>에 ‘민요시’라는 부제를 붙였을 때, ‘민요’가 지칭하는 바를 살폈다. 그 결과 오늘날 잡가․민요․시조로 구분되는 노래들이 당시에는 재래의 노래라는 의미에서 모두 ‘민요’로 간주된 것을 알 수 있었다. 3장에서는 당대의 민요와 <진달래꽃>의 상호텍스트성을 ‘영변 약산’, ‘진달래꽃’이라는 어휘적 연결장치를 중심으로 살폈다. 민요에서 ‘영변 약산의 진달래꽃’은 ‘연약함과 강인함’, ‘도도함과 희생’이라는 모순된 이미지의 공존을 상징한다. 이를 참조하면 <진달래꽃>은 제3연을 중심으로 아름다운 님이 잔인한 님으로, 열정적인 화자가 냉정한 화자로 전도되는 시로 해석된다. 4장에서는 <진달래꽃>에 나타난 아이러니를 통해 민요 <영변가>에 함축된 아이러니를 분석하였다. 그 결과 <영변가>는 ‘만남과 이별’, ‘이별과 재회’, ‘아름다움과 추함’, ‘욕망의 폭주와 주저함’ 등의 아이러니가 중첩된 텍스트라는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이 글은 <진달래꽃>과 상호텍스트 관계에 있는 당대의 민요들을 모두 살피지 못한 한계가 있다. 그러나 당대 독자들이 <진달래꽃>을 어떻게 감상했는지를 추측하고, 민요 <영변가>를 현대 독자들도 감상할 만한 존재 탐구의 텍스트로 해석한 것은 의의가 있다고 본다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that Jindalekkot(Azaleas) by Kim So-wol is intertextually related to folk songs including Yeongbyeon-ga, and to study how the meanings of Jindalekkot(Azaleas) and the folk song Yeongbyeon-ga change when observed through intertextuality of the two. The following are the results of this study. In chapter 2, a study was done to clarify how Kim So-wol defined 'folk songs' when he used the subheading of 'folk-song poet' for Jindalekkot(Azaleas). As the result, it is possible to see that songs which are classified as Jap-ga, folk songs, Sijo in present time would have been classified as 'folk songs' to mean traditional songs in those times. In chapter 3, intertextuality between 'folk songs' of those times and Jindalekkot(Azaleas) has been observed concentrating on ‘Yeongbyeon- Yaksan’, ‘Azaleas’ as lexical connectors. In folk songs, ‘Azaleas of Yeongbyeon-Yaksan’ represents presence of contradictory images such as 'effeminacy and tenacity', 'pride and sacrifice'. According to this, looking at Jindalekkot(Azaleas) focusing on third stanza, it can be interpreted as a poem of dramatic irony where the beloved becomes the cruel, and the ardent one becomes cold-hearted. In chapter 4, implied ironies in the folk song Yeongbyeon-ga were analyzed through the ironies in Jindalekkot(Azaleas). The result shows that the folk song Yeongbyeon-ga is a text with superimposed ironies such as 'greeting and parting', 'parting and reunion', 'beauty and ugliness', 'irresistibility and hesitancy of desires'. The limitation of this study is that not all 'folk songs' of those times which are intertexutally related to Jindalekkot(Azaleas) have been closely examined. And therefore, the discussion on Jindalekkot(Azaleas) or Yeongbyeon-ga presented in this paper cannot be recognized as absolute interpretations. However, this study is significant in two aspects. One is that the interpretations of the readers in those times who are familiar with 'folk songs' can be conjectured. And the other is that Yeongbyeon-ga is a type of text which can be read by readers of present times as a poetry to pursue the meaning of existence.
