초록
This study aims to investigate on-line language teaching strategies and managements focused on the efficiency of multimedia and autonomous learning in a cyber university program in Korea. For data collection, this study adopts questionnaires, in-depth group interviews and students' assignment. The questionnaire was analysed by means of frequency tables with graphics and descriptive statistics which show and summarise patterns in the participants' responses, and help to explain the results of the data and detect relationships of interviews. Analysing content and developing coding categories was the main technique for analysing qualitative data such as group interviews and students' assignments for the research questions. The study challenges a number of possibilities relating to the bright aspects of on-line education focusing on the media-efficiency, autonomous learning, and interactivity. The results point to the importance of (1) developing student-centered and VOD lecture based upon on-line contents and supplementary materials such as CD-Roms, MP3 files and printed materials (2) comprehensive roles of on-line and off-line education and the external and sustainable assistances to activate learner-autonomy, (3) implementing synchronous communication tools of video conferencing to increase interactivity and a sense of belonging.
