Former studies about Kim Namcheon's Balzac acceptance were mainly judged by western realism's criterion. But this standpoint has limitation that ignores active appropriation and abrogation process within Kim Namcheon's Balzac acceptance.Kim Namcheon's Balzac acceptance was taken place within renewal of realism and confrontation with conversion, which was literature history's main task at that time. By accepting Balzac, he moves his criticism's point from writer oneself's introspection to objective reality. In so, he was able to criticize conversion discourse by Balzac's selflessness and objectivity. And by criticizing conversion discourse, he was able to criticize the national policy literature ideology.In the process of accepting Balzac, he misinterpretates medium Engels. By this misinterpretation he shows logic that independent from author's world view, 'observation literature' can lead to realistic achievement. By this, even though author's socialistic prospect was impossible, he achieved minimum logic to understand objective reality. Moreover he secured internal logic to refuse the national policy literature.
