무한공간의 출현과 근대의 서사: 아리시마 다케오를 중심으로

Abstract

This paper was written to look into the scene where the modernity and the East Asian literature crossed over, on a reference point of the infinite space. After sketching out the intellectual atmosphere of 17th century Europe when the notion of infinite space came out first to eyes of the public by reading Galileo and Pascal, I read an essay, "Oshiminaku Ai wa Ubau"(Love Robs without Hesitation)(1920) written by Arishima Takeo which is an direct response to it in modern East Asia. And I describe the frame of modern East Asian literature which was made in the transitional period to modernity focusing on the three countries, Japan, China, and Korea, before writing the character of Chinese literature of this period through analyzing the way of depicting the notion of infinite space in a Lu Xun’s story, "New Year Sacrifice”(zhufu,祝福). Last but not least, I write the cases of Korean literature by means of analyzing three texts of two writers, Yi Gwang-su and Yôm Sangsôp's. The frame of this paper can be simplified as the threefold: a relentless egoism of Arishima Takeo’s life and works, a combative enlightenment expressed by Lu Xun’s life and writings, the broken up of the Koreans writers’ between the two.
