Abstract

A Typological Tradition of Knight-Errant Subject Chinese Poems and 17th Century Chosun Poetical Circles's Knight-Errant Subject Poems攀 * Peking University / catcher1@hanmail.net攀攀Lim Jun-chul*This study examines characteristic aspects of knight-errant subject poem from the perspective of the tradition of the Subject-Typology. This study starts from examining its term, concept, origin, trait, content and form to understand the general tradition of the genre of knight-errant subject poem. And with this standard, take a close look at the knight-errant subject poems in the 17th century Chosun Dynasty.The knight-errant subject poem of the 17th century Chosun dynasty is a kind of literature phenomenon which is resulted from the imitation of ancient style and the historical context. Though it has its own limits, some works reflect changes of historical environment or poet's thoughts. Yoo Mong-In and Cho Chan-han reflect the phases of the times, and Kim Se-Ryeom expresses the spirit of resistance against the tyranny of Kwang-hae Koon. Cho Kyeong and Cheong Doo-Kyeong express their admiration for Ming dynasty and despise of Qing dynasty. These are all resulted from the special circumstance of Chosun in the 17th century.
