Abstract

In this essay, we investigated Dasan's thought, his sound of virtue and the ethics of public officers discussed in his great work Mokminsimseo. Dasan's famous comment that a half of a man of honor's study should be moral training and the rest of it be govering the people means that everyone should be genuine human firstly. It must be unchangeable truth for public officers that first of all they should equip their own personality, good character, virtue before the time when they take up public office to service his people. Dasan innovated casual thoughts, integrated practical science, was the role model as a public officer himself, aimed at moral perfectness, persue the aesthetics of win-win. The essence of Dasan's sound of virtue and thoughts was to innovate his kingdom newly for nursing every people and upbringing everything in the world. Dasan exclaimed the ethics of public officers as below by suggesting clearly about arranging home, belief, loving people, law abiding. First, they should know their own capacity and lot. Next, they sould be incorruptible and thirdly, they should practice the three discussion on Samgeum(三禁), Sajhi(四知), Sauoe(四畏). Dasan's thought and the ethics of public officers must be the great standard for making the society of public duty clean and the nation sound. So his thought could be very useful value transcending the time and space. Dasan's sound of virtue, thoughts, and the ethics of public officers in Mokminsimseo in which his sad hope was expressed were revealed from "The love for human".
