The aim of this study was to analyze and investigate the specific effect of Korean Wave on Japanese with the spreading of Korean Wave. By in-depth interview on the Japanese and Koreans of Korea Town, this study also revealed mutual effect of Japanese and newcomers of Korea Town in terms of their social and cultural relations such as Korea Town and Korean Wave, the established operations of Korean Wave and anti-Korean Wave, the roles of Korean Wave and Japanese Koreans, the symbiotic relationship of Korea Wave and resident Japanese in Korea Town. The data of this study was collected through interviewing Korean Wave related experts in the Shin Okubo Korea Town of Tokyo, executives who contacted with Japanese frequently, and keepers of Korean School which were spreading for Korean Wave. The analyses were conducted with regard to the occurrence of Korea Town and its relations with Korean Wave, positive and negative attitudes on Korean Wave–Korean Wave and anti-Korean Wave, preferences of K-pop, attitudes of reporting Korean Wave, historical and political attitudes, neutral attitudes, the on-going and strategic aspects of Korean Wave, the roles of Korean Wave and Japanese Koreans, the relationship between Korea Town and local residents. The results were as follow. First, the study showed the relationship between the appearance of Korea Town and Korean Wave. The existence of Kabukicho new-comers played more important role in the forming of Korean Town than old-comers. Second, concerning Korean Wave and anti-Korean Wave, suspicion of Korean Wave, in comparison with the assertion of the conservative forces of Japanese that the governmental Korean Wave was persuasive, the non-governmental Korean Wave was more persuasive. Third, in regard to the roles of Korean Wave and Japanese Koreans, Japanese Koreans played a buffer role for that Korean Wave developed continually even when the confliction and intervention between two countries occurred. Fourth, thinking about the relationships between Korean Wave of Korea Town and local residents, the improvement of the sense of community who was living in Korea Town benefited the harmony of local society. In conclusion, this study emphasized that the improvement of the sense of community who was living in Korea Town was more important to promote the development of Korean Wave than the active advertisement of Korean Wave.
