『조선시보(朝鮮時報)』의 이체자 표기에 대한 고찰 - 1914~1930년의 기사 제목과 부제목를 중심으로 -

Abstract

This study summarizes the variant Chinese characters used in the titles and subtitles of the articles of “Chosen Jiho” published from 1914 to 1930 and identifies the details. From the articles found, every article is sorted by the year it was published and examined in terms of its characteristics and changes. A number of variant Chinese characters were used in “Chosen Jiho” and amongst them were words that 1) are interchangeable e.g. 決定 and 决定, 2) have both usable and unusable words, or 3) are not commonly used. Also, some variants were used for a specific, short period of time compared to other forms that are commonly used in modern Japanese(Joyo Kanji of modern Japanese). The scope of this paper is limited to the variant Chinese characters used between 1914 and 1930. Follow-up studies on variant Chinese characters used in “Chosen Jiho” is expected to cover those used in the 1940s and make a comparison with other contemporary newspapers. This will help understand the Japanese transcriptions in this period in more detail.
