안용복과 雨森芳洲(아메노모리 호슈, 이하 아메노모리)의 관계를 확인할 수 잇는 기록은 확인된 바가 없다. 그러나 일본인이 납치한 안용복을 対馬藩이 조선에 송환하면서 울릉도 침탈을 기도하는 것으로 촉발된 울릉도 쟁계/죽도일건의 해결과정에 둘은 밀접한 관계를 가진다. 조선과 일본 사이에 영토문제가 발생했을 때 이 두 명은 長崎와 対馬藩에 같이 있었기 때문에, 아메노모리에게 뜻이 있었다면 둘은 쉽게 만날 수 있었다. 또 그럴 마음이 없다 하여도 용무상 만나야 했던 관계이다. 그러한 경우 안용복은 조선에 관심이 많은 아메노모리에게 조선의 입장과 죽도일건(竹島一件)에 관한 사실을 전하려 했을 것이고, 아메노모리도 안용복을 통해 조선의 지식과 영토분쟁의 본질을 파악하려 했을 것이다. 그러한 둘의 관계를 확인하는 것은 독도문제의 본질을 규명하는 또 하나의 방법이다.
Abstract
There is no confirmed account of the personal relationship between Ahn Yong-bok and Amenomori Hoshu. However, after the Lord of Tsushima Island extradited Ahn Yong-bok, kidnapped by the Japanese, to Joseon, this triggered the resolution of the incidence of Ulleungdo/Jukdo islets and this eventually led to a close relationship between the two people. When the territorial disputes over the islands bewteen the Kingdom of Joseon and the Japanses Shogunate broke out, the two people stayed in Nagasaki and Tsushima Islands at the same time, and the two could have met easily if Amenomori had wished to. Even if he had not had the intention, he had to met with him for official purposes. If that meeting actually took place, Ahn would have tried to convey facts about the Jukdo Incidence and Amenomori would have in response attempted to grasp the essence of the territorial disputes as well as information about Joseon. Therefore, verifying their relationship could open a new avenue for clarifying the truth about the Dokdo issue.
