본 연구는 일본어모어화자의 디스커션에 나타나는 잡담을 분석하였다. 친구 관계인 20대 여자 대학생 5페어의 디스커션을 분석한 결과, 모든 데이터에서 잡담이 나타났다. 디스커션과 잡담의 내용의 관련성을 검토한 결과, 디스커션에서 언급된 화제나 내용이 잡담에서도 이어서 나타나는 것이 확인되었다. 디스커션에 나타난 잡담의 기능을 확인하기 분석을 실시한 결과, 잡담에는 <이야기가 정체되었을 때 분위기 띄우기><회화 참가 유도><대립 완화><화제 유지를 위한 도움><이야기의 구체화에 의한 회화의 진전>의 기능이 있는 것이 확인되었다. 이러한 기능은 과제수행에 있어서의 의견 일치 과정이 중심이 되는 디스커션의 목적 달성에 일조하는 것으로 나타났다. 향후 학습자의 잡담을 분석하여 일본어 회화교육에 활용하기 위한 연구를 진행할 예정이다. 또한 다양한 장면과 다양한 속성의 대상자를 중심으로 한 연구를 통해 잡담의 양상과 실태에 대해 명확히 할 예정이다.
Abstract
This study examined the small talk that appears in native Japanese speakers' conversations. All data revealed small talk after analyzing the conversations of five pairs of female college students in their 20s who are friends. Examining the relevance of the discussion and the content of the small talk confirmed that the topic or content mentioned in the discussion continued to be present in the small talk. As a result of the analysis conducted to confirm the function of small talk in discussion, it was determined that the function of small talk includes lifting the mood when the story is stagnant, inducing participation in conversation, easing conflict, assisting in maintaining topic, and advancing the conversation by concretizing the story. It was discovered that this function contributes to the purpose of discussion, which is centered on the consensus process in task completion. Future plans include analyzing learners' small talk for use in Japanese conversational education and conducting research to that end. In addition, I intend to clarify the aspects and actual conditions of small talk through research that focuses on scenes and characteristics of varying types.
