『이세모노가타리(伊勢物語)』 한국어 번역에 대한 연구

Abstract

This study examines the Korean translation aspects of "Ise Monogatari," a work within the monogatari genre, which has undergone several translations. Focusing on the translations by Gu Jeong-ho and Min Byeong-hoon, the analysis highlights that both translations, crafted by scholars specializing in Japanese classical literature, are relatively high-quality due to their in-depth understanding of the Heian period. However, the study also identifies some issues, such as misunderstandings of archaic language that led to translation errors, misinterpretations of context causing reading difficulties, and shortcomings in the translation of literary concepts. Notably, both translations of waka attempted to adhere to the 5-7-5-7-7 syllable structure and included detailed explanations to aid understanding. This effort is commendable, as it enhances accessibility for both specialists and general readers interested in Japanese classical literature. The study emphasizes the need for more active translation efforts in the field of Japanese classical literature, along with a call for further research on translation texts.
