본 연구는 지리학의 전통적인 연구방법으로서 뿐 아니라 지리 교육 고유의 학습방법으로 인정되는 답사에 대해 예비교사의 교육과정에서 어떤 전략으로 접근하여야 하는가 라는 고민에서 출발하였다. 실제 다양한 유형의 답사가 이루어지고 있지만, 보통 학과 단위의 정기 답사에서 지리적 기능의 향상과 공간적 사고의 확립, 답사 참가자의 관심을 환기하기 위한 방안이 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 실제 한 학과의 정기 답사 과정을 대상으로 한 실행연구를 시도하였으며, 형식적으로는 예비교사인 학생들이 직접 고안한 문항의 학습지를 활용하고, 내용적 측면에서는 구체적 장소를 선정하여 경험하고 탐구함으로써 지역을 이해하는 방법의 가능성을 가늠하였다. 실제 답사에서 강원도 탄광지역의 변화라는 주제에 접근하는데 있어, 10명 내외의 조원들이 조별로 선정한 답사 장소를 방문하고 면담과 실제적인 활동을 전개하였다. 하루 동안의 답사를 마친 후 각 조별로 다른 장소에 대한 경험을 서로 나눔으로서 협동학습의 효과도 누릴 수 있었다. 학생들은 이러한 방식의 답사에 대해 강한 인상과 흥미를 가지게 되었고 각자 역할을 맡아 수행하는 과정에 참여한 것을 만족스러워 했다. 이러한 방식의 답사는 학과 단위의 답사에서 시간적 공간적 제약을 극복하는 한 방안이 되었으며, 앞으로도 예비교사 교육으로서의 답사의 방향에 대한 발전적인 논의가 계속되기를 기대한다.
Abstract
This study is begun from the question what strategy is effective for fieldwork in the college of education curriculum especially in the case of geography department. Fieldwork is thought of traditional research method in geography and teaching and learning method of original to geographic education. Even if there are diverse types of fieldwork, it is needed to introduce new field trip strategy for students (preliminary teachers) to improve geographic skills, to make them think spatially and participate actively. It was tried to do action research of a regular field trip of one geography department in this study, for the sake of formality workbook was used which is composed of students?self designed questions, at the same time, it is intended to explore the potentiality of regional understanding to select the authentic place of experience and inquiry in substance. In practice, it is tried to do group activity of about 10 members to visit place and interview to understand the theme of regional transformation in a mining region in Gangwon province. Students has experienced the process of cooperative learning between groups as well as intragroup. Students has impressed strongly and been interested in this new way of fieldwork. They are contended to play a own role in this field study. This method is a kind of way to manage the limits of spatial and temporal frame in a large scale field trip of geography department. From now on, it is expected to propose fieldwork practice to apply for preliminary teachers training.
