Abstract

This study analyzed the impact of the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases and Social Distancing policies on living population patterns (time and age groups) in Seoul. As a result, it was found that the effect of reducing the living population by time zone was greater during the day than at night, and the younger generation by age group was greater than that of other age groups. There was a difference in the effect of social distancing policies on the movement pattern of the living population in Seoul by age group. Specifically, the ban on gatherings of five or more people and restrictions on business hours showed the greatest reduction in youth, while telecommuting and shortening subway operations showed the greatest reduction in middle-aged people. Through this, it was confirmed that measures to prevent infectious diseases such as COVID-19 in Seoul and social distancing policies should be implemented in more specific ways considering the time and age groups. In particular, it is necessary to strengthen quarantine measures centered on daytime hours, and measures to supplement them are needed as the effect of reducing the living population during night hours is insignificant.
