근대계몽기 신문 소재 약성가(藥性歌)의 근대적 변전(變轉)과 의미 연구

약성가는 병의 원인을 진단하고, 약의 성질을 밝혀놓으며, 한방에서 다루는 다양한 약재와 치료법 등을 나열한 시가이다. 약성가는 한의학이 의술의 대세를 이루었던 동북아시아 중 특히 우리나라에서 가장 활발하고 다양하게 전승된 전통이다. 또한 의학 관련 내용을 시조나 가사의 노래 형식으로 만들어 암송과 활용에 용이하게 만든 것이라는 측면에서 우리 시가 향유 방식과 자질의 독특한 점을 확인해볼 수 있는 좋은 갈래이다. 현재 약성가를 확인할 수 있는 텍스트는 조선후기의 의서, 소설 <흥부전>, 판소리 사설 <수궁가(水宮歌)>⋅<변강쇠가>, 가면극 <봉산탈춤> 등이고, 근대 신문과 잡지 수록 자료, 현대 희곡 등이다. 본 논문의 목적은 근대의 신문 중 『대한매일신보』와 『대한민보』 소재 약성가를 대상으로 근대적 변전의 양상과 그 의미를 확인하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 조선후기 약성가류와 근대 약성가의 비교 방법을 통해 앞으로 확장될 관련 연구의 토대를 마련하고자 하였다. 근대계몽기 신문에 수록된 약성가는 독서물로 정착하면서 기존의 부수적 성격으로부터 독자적 가결을 형성하였고, 근대 이전 약성가와 달리 의약가적 구성의 확장이 일어났으며, 내용 축약과 정제를 통한 변전의 양상을 확인할 수 있었다. 아울러 <수궁가> 등 판소리에 포함된 약성가는 의서(醫書) 소재 약성가의 영향을 받았으며, 시가로서 충분히 향유될 수 있는 가능성을 지닌 가창 자질을 획득하였음을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 근대 약성가는 신문 등 다양한 근대적 매체를 통해 시국을 알리고 사회의 각종 병폐를 고발하며, 그 해결책을 전달하려는 목적성을 띠게 되었다. 즉, 근대 약성가는 근대계몽기의 다양한 신문 및 학술지 발간에 힘입어 근대적 사유를 전파하는 수단으로 기능한 것이다.
Abstract
Yak-seong-ga(藥性歌) is a poem that diagnoses the cause of a disease, define the properties of the drug, and lists various drugs and treatments used in oriental medicine. And Yak-seong-ga(藥性歌) made drug-related contents in the form of songs to make it easier to memorize and write. Therefore, it is also a good literary asset that can confirm the enjoyment method and characteristics of classical Korean poetry. The purpose of this thesis is to confirm the aspect and meaning of modern transformation by targeting the Yak-seong-ga(藥性歌) in the modern newspapers 『The 『Korea Daily News』 and The 『Daehan Minbo』. For this purpose, the basis for related research to be expanded in the future was laid through the comparative method between the Yak-seong-ga(藥性歌) of the late Joseon Dynasty and the modern Yak-seong-ga(藥性歌). The texts that can be used for the study include medical books from the late Joseon Dynasty, novel <Chun-hyang-jeon>, pan-so-ri editorial <Su-gung-ga> and <Byeon-gang- so-ga>, and the mask play <Bong-san Mask Dance>, materials from modern newspapers and magazines, and modern plays. The Yak-seong-ga(藥性歌) included in the newspapers of the Modern Enlightenment changed from the existing incidental character and formed an unique lyrics while settling down as a reading material. Also, unlike the pre-modern Yak-seong-ga(藥性歌), the composition of the medicinal value was expanded, and the aspect of transformation through content summary and refinement could be confirmed. In addition, it was possible to examine that influenced by the yak-seong songs included in the pan-so-ri such as <Su-gung-ga>, and acquired the singing qualities with the potential to be fully enjoyed as a poems and songs. The modern Yak-seong-ga(藥性歌) has the purpose of informing the state of the world through various modern media such as newspapers, accusing society of various ills, and delivering solutions. In other words, the modern Yak-seong-ga(藥性歌) functioned as a means of disseminating modern thinking thanks to the publication of various newspapers and academic journals during the Modern Enlightenment period.
