Abstract

It is necessary to examine the Korean language education system in Japan for the understanding the social background of Japanese translator and translation police, who are working around the annexation of Korea by Japan. The traditional language education for Korean translator had been done among hereditary families in the context of interchange, ‘gyorin’ in Tsusima. Even transitional education started from 1872 by backing up of Meiji Government, in Tsushima, but for the more efficiency it should be moved to Busan in 1873. It was influenced by Korean conquering opinion before the first opening of Incheon. After the Japanese-Chinese war, Korean language was getting more popularity in Japanese society, some modern school have been established in Seoul and Busan. In early phase of modern system, the basis had been moved from Tsusima -Busan line to Tokyo-Seoul modern and colonial line. Translators had been recruited by local and educational networks. In colonial bureaucratic institute, the upper group are recruited from Tokyo foreign language school, and the executive group are mainly recruited from the Korean school established by Kumamotoken named Nakcheongul.
