사이버강좌에서의 학습자 참여도 및 만족도에영향을 미치는 변인 연구

초록

본 연구는 2005년도 2학기 A대학교에서 개설된 26개 사이버강좌 1872명의 학생들을 대상으로 학습자 참여도 및 만족도와 학습자특성, 사이버강좌 평가 변인, 강좌특성 간의 관계를 종합적으로 탐색하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 학습자 대상의 웹 설문조사가 주된 연구방법으로 사용되었고 학습자 참여도와 만족도에 대한 HLM 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 학습자특성과 관련하여 남학생이, 강좌내용 관련지식이 높을수록, 수강 시 일반적인 수업참여도가 높을수록 사이버강좌에서 참여도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이에 반하여 사이버강좌 수강경험, 사이버강좌에 대한 관심, 컴퓨터 및 인터넷 활용능력은 참여도에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 사이버강좌 평가 변인과 관련해서는 교수학습내용 및 수업설계, 교수자, 사이버강좌의 운영 및 지원 정도가 참여도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 인터페이스 설계는 참여도와 통계적으로 유의미한 수준에서 관련이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 강좌특성 중 전공/교양여부, 강좌 수강인원, 온라인/오프라인 병행여부는 참여도에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다.학습자특성과 만족도의 관계는 사이버강좌에 대한 관심이 높을수록, 컴퓨터 및 인터넷 활용능력이 높을수록 만족도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 성별, 사이버강좌 수강경험, 강좌내용 관련지식, 수강 시 일반적인 수업참여도는 만족도에 통계적으로 유의미한 수준의 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 사이버강좌 평가 변인과 관련해서는 교수학습내용 및 수업설계, 인터페이스 설계, 교수자, 사이버강좌의 운영 및 지원 정도가 만족도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 강좌특성 중 전공/교양여부, 강좌 수강인원, 온라인/오프라인 병행여부는 만족도에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과는 사이버강좌의 수업설계 및 운영전략에 실제적인 시사점을 제시한다.

Abstract

In recent years, there is a growing interest in developing online courses in diverse learning environments. The study examined the associations between the learner characteristics, evaluation criteria of online course and course characteristics and the learner participation and satisfaction in online undergraduate courses. 1872 students in 26 classes in A university participated through the web survey method. Results of hierarchical linear modeling showed that gender, previous knowledge related course and active class participation attitude regarding learner characteristics influenced on learner participation. The course contents and design, the instructor, administrative and technical support in evaluation criteria of online course were related to learner participation. The study confirmed that interests in online course and computer self-efficacy affected learner satisfaction. The course content and design, interface design, instructor, administrative and technical support were identified as important factors influencing learner satisfaction. Results revealed that course characteristics were not associated with learner participation and satisfaction. The findings suggested considering diverse factors influencing learner participation and satisfaction in an online course to promote the effectiveness of cyber education. Furthermore, effective design, teaching and management strategies were discussed for the successful cyber education.
