조선 산학의 관점에서 〈광무양안〉 에 제시된 평면도형의 측도 분석

본 연구는 산학 지식과 그 지식의 실세계 적용에 대한 분석을 목적으로 한다. 산학 지식은 토지 측량을통해 평면도형의 넓이를 구하는 문제를 다루는 방전(方田)이고, 이 산학 지식이 적용되는 곳으로 조세부과를 위해 실시하는 토지 조사인 양전(量田)을 택하였다. 산학서에 방전이 포함되는 이유가 국가적차원의 수입원인 조세 부과를 위한 양전 능력이 산원의 업무에 포함되기 때문이므로 양자의 연계는자연스럽다. 구체적으로 방전을 다루는 조선의 대표적인 산학서 〈묵사집산법(17c)〉, 〈구일집(18c)〉, 〈산학입문(18c)〉의 방전 관련 내용과 〈광무양안(20c)〉에 제시된 평면도형의 모양과 넓이의 연계를분석하였다. 분석 결과는 산학서와 양안의 넓이 측도에서 차이점과 공통점을 보여준다. 양안의 토지넓이의 대부분이 산학서의 방법에 따른 결과와 일치하지만 실제 측량이라는 점에서 측정 길이와문제의 주어진 조건에 차이가 있는 경우가 있고, 양안에서 직사각형 위주의 어림, 길이의 비례성과상대성의 고려 여부, 근사의 유형, 다수의 복합 도형의 취급, 문제 상황의 목적, 명시적으로 제시되지않은 도형의 형태나 측도의 추론 등의 측면을 고찰할 수 있었다.
Abstract
This study aims to analyze Joseon mathematical knowledge and its application to real world. The mathematical knowledge refers to measuring the area of plane figures, known as square-shaped land(方田). Its application is land surveys(量田) conducted for taxation purposes. Specifically, this study analyzes the correlation between the related contents in representative mathematical books of the Joseon Dynasty, such as MuksaJipsanbub (17th century), Guiljib (18th century), and San- hakIbmun (18th century), and the shapes and areas of plane figures presented in GwangmuYangan (20th century). The analysis reveals both differences and simi- larities in the measured area between mathematical books and real world land sur- veys. While most results of the land survey align with the results obtained from mathematical methods, differences arise due to variations in real measurement of lengths and given conditions in the problems. Additionally, various aspects such as the focus on rectangles in land surveys, the proportionality and relativity of lengths, types of approximation, composed shapes, the purpose of problem solv- ing, and reasoning of unspecified shapes or measures are discussed.
