Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences and changes of antioxidant enzymes(SOD, CAT, and GPX), malondialdehyde(MDA), and respiratory variables(VE, VO2, and VO2kg) between judo athletes and sedentary men after stress test. To achieve the purpose, twelve healthy young males(exercise: n=6, control: n=6) were recruited for this study. All subjects carried on maximal all-out exercise in treadmill. Blood samples were collected at 60 minutes before exercise, immediately stop exercise and 60 minutes on recovery. The analysis of data revealed as followings: First, there were significant differences in the SOD levels between two groups only in post-exercise, but no significant differences in the other times. Second, there were no significant differences in the MDA levels between two groups in post-exercise. Third, there were significant differences in the respiratory variables(VE, VO2, and VO2kg) between two groups only in post-exercise, but no significant differences in the other times. In conclusion, present study suggested that Judo athletes were prone to injure by oxidative stress than control group, however they have stronger antioxidant preventive system than that of control group.
