초록
The purpose of this study is to explore what Sue, as a Korean Goose Mother, experiences in a foreign country, what those experiences mean to her, and in what ways we as Korean educators, administrators, and policy makers can facilitate Korean Goose Mothers’ ability to remain in Korea while their children learn the English language abroad. Narrative inquiry was used as the research methodology, as conceptualized by Connelly and Clandinin (1990, 2000). The data was collected for 8 months, from April to December 2007, using conversations with Sue who came to Canada with her two children in 2006. This study will provide an opportunity for teachers, teacher educators, policy makers, and administrators to consider improvements in curriculum making and implementation in the area of second language education. This inquiry reveals how important it is for us to create spaces where the stories of mothers, children, and families can be told and heard.
