초록

The study explored environmental themes among 74 children's picturebooks nominated for the 2023 and 2024 Green Earth Book Award (GEBA). Through content analysis, three major themes were crafted: Nature appreciation, environmental issues, and environmental stewardship. These books emphasized the importance of appreciating nature and showcased various actions by professionals, governments, communities, and characters to inspire young readers' involvement in environmental protection. This comprehensive analysis highlighted the positive over negative human impact on the environment and emphasized the power of empathy in motivating young readers to take pro-environmental actions. This study is important in terms of advocating and promoting environmental education initiatives for young children.
