이 연구에서는 환경교육에서 환경 도서를 효과적으로 사용하는 데 필요한 정보를 제공하기 위하여 초등학생용 환경 도서의 특성을 조사하였다. 2022년 환경부에서 선정한 우수환경도서 중 초등학생용 도서를 도서의 유형(구성, 장르), 주제(17개의 지속가능발전목표), 환경교육 내용(환경 지식, 환경 태도⋅가치, 환경 역량, 환경 실천과 참여), 지속가능성에 대한 관점(생태, 경제, 사회) 등의 측면에서 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 지속가능발전목표중 환경적 측면의 주제는 많이 반영되었으나 경제적, 사회적 측면의 주제는 적게 다루어졌다. 환경교육 내용 측면에서 환경 지식과 환경 태도⋅가치 범주는 많이 다루어졌으나 환경 역량과 환경 실천 및 참여 범주는 거의다루어지지 않았다. 지속가능성에 대한 관점의 경우, 사회적 관점의 점수가 상대적으로 낮았고 통합적인 관점이반영된 경우가 거의 없었다.
Abstract
This study investigates the characteristics of environmental books for elementary school students to clarify their effective usage in environmental education. For this purpose, this study analyzed books selected as “outstanding” environmental books by the Ministry of Environment in 2022, focusing on those for elementary students. The analysis covered aspects such as book type (structure and genre), topics (the 17 sustainable development goals), environmental education contents (knowledge, attitudes-values, competency, and practices-participation), and perspectives on sustainability (ecological, economic, and social). The results showed that topics related to the ecological aspects of the sustainable development goals were widely represented, whereas those related to the economic and social aspects were less emphasized. In terms of environmental education contents, the subcategories of environmental knowledge and attitudes-values were frequently covered; however, environmental competency and practices-participation were rarely addressed. Regarding perspectives on sustainability, the social aspect scored relatively low, and integrated perspectives were rarely reflected. Educational implications are discussed.
