Abstract

This study aims to first explain why creation is needed at each stage of storytelling development in a video production workshop class and to investigate the method, proceeding with the actual class. First, Chapter 2 examines the necessity of creation by stage and discusses the elements of creativity and the method of examination by stage. In addition, Chapter 3 presents cases of feedback for each stage of concrete storytelling to increase the completeness of creation in the video production work- shop class to proceed with the research. The creative process by stage can be examined in the follow- ing order: logline, synopsis, treatment, and screenplay. The logline is to check if the three elements of the subject matter are prepared. The synopsis is to examine if there is the author’s design of the end- ing of the story and if the theme of the story is revealed. The treatment is the stage of completion of a substantial story in which the entire story can be examined, and it is possible to improve the com- pleteness of the scene development by examining the problems revealed in the treatment drawn up in the novel format, converting them in the step outline format. In the screenplay stage, the creator still lacking in training should concentrate on modifying the parts that should be included in the story but were overlooked or miswritten. To examine the creative process by stage through the case of feed- back, the method of improvement was usually related to the specificity of the story setting. First, in the logline, it was found that many problems would be solved if the characters or events in the story were concretely presented. In the synopsis, it was noted that it would be possible to create an ending that matches the creator’s intentions by removing the part of the story that obscures the ending or adding a story that is not described. Regarding the feedback in the treatment, this study examined parts that were not yet formed by transforming the treatment drawn up with the step outline method and completed the feedback by proceeding to the screenplay stage, setting them concretely. The cases examined in the screenplay stage included unclear situations, duplicated actions, poor action descrip- tions, unnecessary screen processing, and directions with insufficient information about the character and time, and the creator was able to recognize and modify them through feedback.
