Abstract

This study aims to develop a 'BD-PBL' model that can help learners improve their leading music experience and creative problem-solving skills by fusing backward design and project-based learning model for music classes in elementary, middle, and high schools. The BD-PBL primary model, which means a project-type teaching and learning model using backward design, was derived in eight stages through the extrinsic system of backward design and PBL learning procedure, and modifications to the model were discussed after expert review. Based on this, the secondary model was reconstructed by applying discussions such as ① avoidance of overlapping of functions, ② multidimensional evalua tion and feedback, and ③ addition of modern learning tools. The revised secondary model was com pressed into six stages, which are characterized by the integration of learning goal setting and learner analysis, the combination of creative problem solving and project implementation stages, post-feed back, and reflection stages. The discussion for teaching and learning in music subjects related to the use of the BD-PBL model is as follows. It is necessary to maintain integration within the backward design structure, ① integrated activities in singing, instrumental music, creation, and listening areas within the music class, ② essential music experience, ③ learner's leading music activity experience, ④ use of various music tools, and ⑤ integration within the backward design structure. This study is a basic study on the 'BD-PBL' model, and various and specific utilization plans can be obtained by conducting practical research through follow-up studies.
